Set in New York, “face’less” envisions a near dystopian future where faces and objects appear masked when seen through a digital lens. This began as a reaction against a heightened culture of surveillance, where a group of unknown civilians developed the “FACE’LESS” mask, a wearable micro device the size of pin that when worn, projects and overlays a digital skin making you completely anonymous.

What started off as a counter-cultural movement soon morphed into the very environment it was trying to escape. First corporations commoditized it and eventually the government used these digital marks as a more efficient way to track people.

The images in this series depict the golden years of this technology where it was used as a pure poetic expression of freedom, which unknowing at that time changed the landscape of our everyday visual experience forever.
